RITZVILLE – After a Round Robin tie-breaker Tuesday, May 9, the Lind-Ritzville/Sprague girls fastpitch softball team advanced to the Northeast 2B district tournament as the No. 5 seed.

The local girls were scheduled to play Liberty (Spangle), seeded No. 4, in the opening round of district play at noon Tuesday, May 16, in Colfax.

The newspaper went to press before gametime.

The Round Robin included the Broncos, Liberty and the Jenkins (Chewelah) Cougars.

Jenkins got the No. 3 seed and will play No. 6 Asotin at the same time on a field at Northwest Christian (Colbert).

The Broncos lost to Jenkins, 9-5, in the Round Robin on May 9. Individual statistics were not reported.

At Colfax on Tuesday, the winner of the Broncos-Lancer game was scheduled to face the winner of the top-ranked Colfax game against either Reardan or Davenport, who were playing a pigtail game to get into the district tournament at press time.

The loser of the pigtail game was to be eliminated; the remaining losing teams were to play in an elimination game.

Cross bracket, the winner of the Jenkins-Asotin game was scheduled to play the winner of the No. 7 Kettle Falls versus No. 2 Northwest Christian game.

The losers of those games were also scheduled to play an elimination game.

The district championship game as well as the games of consolation winners are scheduled for May 20 at the Merkel Sports Complex in Spokane.

The Top 3 teams will advance to state in Yakima.
