Man arrested in Othello burglary

OTHELLO – A local man was arrested and booked into jail Friday, April 28, after allegedly being caught after burglarizing a house in the 600 block of South Fourth Avenue.

Angel M. Lara, 25, was apprehended after a short chase and booked into the Franklin County Jail on first-degree burglary.

As of press time, Lara was being held without bail in the Franklin County Jail.

According to a police report, police responded to a call of a residential burglary where the resident and Lara had gotten into a "scuffle."

As Lara was fleeing the house, the complainant was "able to rip Angel's backpack off" and then followed him as he fled on a bicycle, records show.

Police joined the pursuit on South First Avenue, where Lara dumped the bicycle and began running through yards, records show.

With residents calling police about the man running through their yards, Adams County Sheriff's Office assisted with K-9, "Nado," records show.

Police and deputies were able to set up a perimeter and hone in on Lara, arresting him without further incident, records show.

Police recovered a knife from Lara's belt during the arrest, records show.
