Cougars sweep doubleheader

Broncos fall 17-1 and 15-1 in league game

RITZVILLE – The Jenkins Cougars pounced on the Broncos in a doubleheader Tuesday, April 25, sweeping the Lind-Ritzville/Sprague boys baseball team.

The boys from Chewelah won the opener, 17-1, and the nightcap, 15-1.

Jenkins’ Clay Jeanneret hit two doubles to lead the visiting Cougars (9-0 in league, 10-2 overall).

Brock Kinch and Cooper Miller each had hits for the Broncos.

On the mound, Zach Bowman took the win for the Cougars, with Jeanneret closing out the game for him.

For the Broncos, Jayce Kelly took the loss pitching, with substitutes Chase Galbreath and Kinch also pitching.

In Game 2, the Broncos had five errors in the 15-1 loss.

Jenkins logged 9 hits while Lind-Ritzville only had one.

Kruz Katzer went 2-for-3, with a triple, to lead the Cougars offense. Katzer also took the win on the mound, backed up by Jeanneret.

Jerod Harder took the loss for the Broncos on the mound. He was backed up by Kelly, Brody Boness and Galbreath.

Kinch had the only hit of the game for the Broncos.

The Lind-Ritzville boys were scheduled to return to the mound for a doubleheader Tuesday, April 25, to host Reardan for the final game of the regular season.
