Arbor Day celebration slated

RITZVILLE – Local elementary school students and the city will celebrate Arbor Day on Friday, April 28.
The celebration will feature fifth-grade students planting trees and Spokane Conservation District’s Garth Davis presenting a “Tree City USA” plaque to city officials.
Elementary School fifth-graders will meet along Main Street at 9 a.m. to plant five trees along the walking path, school officials said.
In advance of the Arbor Day celebration, students wrote essays on the topic, “What their favorite tree is and why?”
During the celebration, the Top 3 essays will be read aloud...
