Basketball games, wrestling matches resume

RITZVILLE — The Broncos return to the courts and the mat this week after taking a break between Christmas and New Year’s.
The Bronco boys basketball C-squad was initially scheduled to play Warden on Tuesday, but the game was canceled. The boys junior-varsity team was set to play Warden at Lind-Ritzville Middle School in Lind at 4:30 p.m. and the girls JV was slated to play Warden at 4:30 p.m. at Lind-Ritzville High School in Ritzville.
Basketball teams will take the court again Friday against Northwest Christian in Colbert, with boys junior-varsity at 3 p.m., girls junior-varsity at 4:30 p.m., girls varsity at 6 p.m. and boys varsity at 7:30 p.m. C-squad boys are also scheduled to play at 6:15 p.m. in the lower campus gymnasium.
Local basketball teams return home Saturday as the Broncos face the Jenkins Cougars from Chewelah.
Boys C-squad is at noon, girls JV at 1:30 and boys JV at 3 p.m. Girls varsity begins at 4:30 p.m. and boys varsity is at 6 p.m.
Games are in Gilson Gymnasium.
The boys wrestling team opens league matches on Thursday, Jan. 5, at a mix-and-match in Colfax. All Northeast 1B and 2B schools are eligible to compete, including Davenport, Reardan, Liberty, Tekoa-Rosalia, Garfield-Palouse, Northwest Christian (Colbert) and others.
Matches start at 5 p.m.
On Saturday, Jan. 7, local wrestlers travel to Coulee City to compete in a tournament; matches begin at 10 a.m.
No girls wrestling is scheduled this week.
