Winter sports season begins

RITZVILLE — The winter sports season officially gets underway this week.

The Lind-Ritzville/Sprague/Washtucna/Harrington boys got their first taste of hoops action Monday night at the Connell Jamboree.

The Broncos were scheduled to get a trial run on the court against both the Eagles and the Quincy Jackrabbits.

Results were not reported by press time.

On Saturday, the boys will hit the home court, hosting both Shadle Park and Almira/Coulee-Hartline.

Junior varsity begins at 3 p.m., with varsity at 6 p.m..

Meanwhile. the local girls hoops team will also be on the court Saturday against Almira/Coulee-Hartline.

The junior varsity game starts at 1:30 p.m., followed by the varsity at 4:30 p.m.

Middle school girls were supposed to play Monday at Wilbur-Creston. But that game has been rescheduled for 4 p.m. Thursday.

The Bronco wrestling team also are on the mat this week.

Their first appearance will be that the Columbia (Burbank) invitational.

That event gets underway at 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1.

The boys are back on the mat Saturday in for the Medical Lake Scramble in Medical Lake.

Bronco wrestlers will weigh in for that competition at 8 a.m., Wrestling is slated to begin at 10 a.m.

Of course, all these sporting events are weather permitting.
