Broncos run over Crusaders

COLBERT – The Broncos boys football team improved to 4-1 on the season Saturday, routing Northwest Christian, 35-7.

The Crusaders came out tough and held Lind-Ritzville/Sprague/Washtucna/Harrington scoreless in the first quarter. But they themselves couldn’t put any points on the board either.

In the second quarter, the Crusaders (1-4) notched one touchdown and added the point-after to take a 7-0 lead to the locker room at halftime.

That was the end of the Crusaders reign.

In the third quarter, the Broncos put up 21 unanswered points to take a 21-7 lead. They added 14 points in the fourth quarter for the 35-7 win.

Hayden Melcher scored two touchdowns in the victory.

No other information was provided on the game.

This Friday night, the Broncos will host the Jenkins Cougars of Chewelah in a battle for second place in the Northeast 2B league.

Both teams come in to the Broncos’ Homecoming game 4-1, with Lind-Ritzville ranked No. 9 and Jenkins (Chewelah) No. 10 in Class 2B football.

Kickoff is at 7 p.m. at Jimmie Snider Field.
