Car Damaged by Collision

Just as Rev. Just and family were getting ready to drive to Pullman Monday morning for Evangeline and Beata and William to re-enter college, their car was badly damaged in an auto collision. Fortunately, the damage was confined principally to the fender and body of the car, leaving the motor in running order so they were able to make the trip.

The accident occurred as William was driving the car downtown to put some air in the tires before starting. At the intersection of First Avenue and Palouse Street, the Just car, which had the right of way, was struck by a Ford driven by W. C. Pence. Mr. Pence had been having a little car trouble, according to the report received, and turned on the gas right at the corner, without noticing the Just car was in the street.

Counterfeit money reported

A Ritzville woman notified the Adams County Sheriff’s Office that a counterfeit $20 bill had been received from an area business on Sept. 24. It was unknown that the money was fake until the woman’s husband attempted to spend it at a Spokane store that refused to accept it. The bill was returned to the local business who exchanged it without incident.

A Lind complainant reported a suspicious circumstance on Sept. 19 when juvenile subjects came to a residence looking for another subject. Dep. Darryl Lobe contacted the residence where a female subject stated that she could smell alcohol on the subjects’ breath. The juveniles were contacted at another residence where one subject agreed to a breathalyzer test. The parents of the subjects were to be contacted.
