liquor and stills
Destroying a hundred quarts of contraband liquor which had been confiscated in raids by the sheriff's force and ordered destroyed by the court, the sheriff's force put in a busy morning last Monday. A layout of the stuff was made on the steps of the courthouse for public inspection.
There were rows of bottled goods, jugs and other containers of moonshine and in the back was a varied assortment of copper coils, stills, wash boilers and articles...

Council OKs first
budget of $106,078
The city council completed the first round of its annual fight with the city budget Tuesday night when it considered the expected income and expense of operating the local government in 1948.
Troubled by the same price rises which bothers every Adams County citizen, the council will have to fit its budget to the estimated $106,078.00 income of the city.

Enrollment of
325 expected at Lind
LIND – A total enrollment of 325 students is expected in the Lind school district when the school year begins Sept. 5.
The grade school (K-6) will have an enrollment of about 145 students with a relatively large kindergarten class of around 18 youngsters expected. The high school (grades 7-12) will have an enrollment of about 180 students, with a large sophomore class of about 38 students.

40 players turn out
for Bronco football
Bronco football coaches Mike Lynch, Alan Boatman, Greg Whitmore and Jason Aldrich have welcomed 40 young men out for the 1997 version of the Ritzville High School football team.
This squad includes six seniors: Alan Hille, Beau Beckley, Marcus Burt, Tim Rasmussen, Ricky Pierce and Brien Marcus; five junior – Dustan Arlt, Eric Reimer, Liam Condon, Alex Castillow and Justin Whitney; 13 sophomores ... and 16 freshmen...
The 40 squad members include six returning letter winners from 1996 – Hille, D. Arlt, Pierce, Beckly, B. Marcus and A. Castillo.
