Rodeo events on tap Friday, Saturday

RITZVILLE – It's rodeo time.

The Ritzville Rodeo takes over the fairgrounds arena on Friday and Saturday nights, Sept. 2-3.

Grand entry starts at 7 p.m., with rodeo action to follow.

Cowboys and cowgirls will be competing for buckles and $500 in added cash for a number of events.

On tap this year are bareback, saddle bronc, ranch bronc and bull riding; breakaway roping for boys and girls ages 14 and younger, calf and team roping, steer wrestling, chute doggin', goat-tying and barrel racing.

Other rodeo events include junior bull riding and junior barrels for competitors ages 9-14.

Parade set for downtown

RITZVILLE – The Ritzville Community Parade returns this Saturday, Sept. 3, set to run through downtown Ritzville.

The parade time is set to start 11 a.m. along Adams and Columbia streets.

Parade-goers should bring a chair and a bag to collect candy and other items passed out along the route by entrants.

The parade is taking place in conjunction with this year's annual Ritzville Rodeo.
