A photo from 50 years ago – Harvesters March Along: Combines at the Howard Teske place four miles southeast of Ritzville march through the wheat fields and rolling hills Tuesday morning. Piloting the nearer unit is Teske, following at the controls of the second unit is the Teskes' son, Randy. The crop being harvested is the Moro variety.

best in county
Rattlesnake Flat is turning out the best wehat so far reported for this crop.
B.L. Sutton is reported as getting around 25 bushels per acrew; John Baumann 18 to 20; B.H. Snyder 20 bushels; R.N. Thompson about 20 bushels, and others are in that range. This is for winter wheat.
Yields north and west of Ritzville are not holding up to their normal amount, ranging from eight to 10 or twelve bushels per acre. The winter wheat in this territory was badly injured during the winter...
