Raise fund for Basin:

Adams County first in state

to pledge quota for

Columbia Basin Project

Adams County has "gone over the top" in raising its quota of the fund to be used in pushing the campaign for federal recognition of the Columbia Basin Irrigation project.

Chairman Gritman notified John W. Langdon of Walla Walla, the chairman for the Fourth District, and Mr. Langdon wired back the following: "Hurrah for Adams county. Congratulations. Am wiring good news to ane at Spokane; This will inspire every county in the state and set an example for other district to emulate."

Adams County apparently is the first county to report its portion as subscribed. The amount assessed against us was $2525.

Deputies called to gang fight

Adams County Sheriff Deputies responded to a call for help from the Othello Police Department on Tuesday, May 27, after a gang fight broke out on the streets of Othello.

Adams County Sheriff Mike Kline said an Othello Police Officer was first on the scene where a Moses Lake gang faction was fighting with members of an Othello gang. Bricks, rocks, sticks and bats were used in the fight, but no firearms were on scene, according to Kline. An Adams County reserve deputy was just arriving at his home near the incident when he heard the Othello officer call for backup and immediately went to the scene.
