NE2B track championships decided

Broncos also compete in Pomeroy

COLFAX - Both the boys and girls Lind-Ritzville/Sprague/Washtucna track teams finished eighth at the Northeast 2B League Championship on Tuesday, May 3, at Colfax High School.

Ten boys and girls teams competed.

Davenport won the boys meet, while St George's (Spokane) won the girls meet.

The Broncos' girls 4x100 relay team of Emmy Klewin, Myra Miller, Sydney Kinch and Claire Wellsandt placed 2nd in the race with a time of 57.71, losing by just over a second to the team from Colfax.

The local boys 4x100 relay team of Blake Earle, Brock Kinch, Zac Moore and Shawn Steinberger placed 5th with a time of 48.38. St George's won the event in 46.53 seconds.

Girls

Individually, Sydney Kinch won the girls pole vault clearing 9-00.00. Kinch was also 2nd in the long jump with a leap of 15-03.00, just 1 inch behind the winning jump by Margreit Galow of St George's.

Myra Miller placed 2nd in discus with a throw of 102-10. Haylee Appleford of Asotin won the event with a throw of 114-01.

Miller was also 4th in shot put with a toss of 29-02. Appleford also won shot put with a distance of 35-02.50.

The Broncos' Emmy Klewin placed 6th in the 400 meters with a time of 1:22.19. Georgia Steele of St George's won the event in 1:06.57.

Boys

Individually for the boys, Brock Kinch placed 8th in the 100-meter with a time of 12.19. Steph Pan of St. George's won the race in 11.55.

In the 200-meter, Kinch was 6th with a time of 25.05. Lucas Paul of Liberty (Spangle) won the event in 24.12.

In the 400-meter, Shawn Steinberger was 3rd with a time of 56.90. Lucas Paul won the event in 54.61.

John Stromberger was 3rd in javelin with a throw of 117-03. Jarrett Jacobsen of Davenport won the event with a distance of 135-08.

In high jump, Zac Moore was 7th clearing 5-04.00. Richard Alsept of Reardan won the event jumping 6-01.00.

In the pole vault, Shawn Steinberger was 5th, clearing a height of 8-00.00. Zachary Cooper of Colfax won the event clearing 11-00.00.

J.P. McAnally was 8th in triple jump, bounding 32-07.00. Jarret Jacobsen won the event at 40-00.00.

Pirate Battle

The local tracksters followed up the district championship by traveling to Pomeroy on Riday, May 6, for the annual Pirate Battle at Twilight.

Starting at 5:30 p.m., eight schools participated well into the evening.

Boys

The Bronco boys team finished last, while the girls finished in 5th. Valley Christian (Spokane Valley) won both the boys and girls meets.

Individually, Shawn Steinberger won the 400-meter with a personal best time of 55.86. Steinberger placed 4th in the 200-meter with another personal best time of 25.52.

The race was won by Sidney Bales of Pomeroy in 24.32.

Eli Michels was 4th in the 1,600-meter with a time of 5:11.85, 10 seconds behind race winner Erik Lazcano of Tekoa-Rosalia.

Zac Moore was 5th in the high jump with a height of 5-04.00. Kamea Kauhi of Asotin won the event clearing 5-10.00.

J.P. McAnally and Caleb Heater placed 6th and 7th in the triple Jump at 31-01.00 and 29-07.00, respectively. Jaxson Orr of Garfield-Palouse won the event bounding 38-10.25.

Girls

In girls events, Claire Wellsandt finished 5th in the 100-meter with a time of 14.38. Marilla Hockett of Oakesdale won the race in 13.53.

Wellsandt was 3rd in the 200-meter with a personal best time of 29.59. Hockett won that race as well in 27.45.

Emmy Klewin was 4th in the 400-meter, running 1:19.99. It was again Hockett winning that race in 1:02.57.

Myra Miller was 5th in shot put with a toss of 30-01.00. Haylee Appleford of Asotin won the event with a distance of 37-09.00.

Miller was also 3rd in discus, with a throw of 104-04. Appleford also won the discus with a distance of 110-02.

Alana Billigmeier was 6th in the javelin with a throw of 76-01. Raelin Borley of Pomeroy won the event with a throw of 97-05.

Danika Cox was 5th in the long jump with a leap of 12-00.00. Katie Boyer of Pomeroy won the event with a jump of 13-09.00.

Cox and Savannah Carruth finished 4th and 5th in the triple jump bounding 23-01.50 and 21-02.50, respectively.

Julia Guske of St. John-Endicott/Lacrosse won the event at 27-02.75.

NE2B pole vault champion Sydney Kinch did not compete for the Broncos.
