Weapons offense leads to couples' arrest

WASHTUCNA – A Spokane couple is facing weapons and other charges after an incident in the 400 block of South Main Street on Monday, April 25.

Armando A. Reed, 44, and Angel M. Stella, 27, were booked into the Adams County Jail.

Reed is charges possible charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, aiming or discharging a firearm or dangerous weapon, felony harassment-threats to kill, criminal impersonation, tampering with physical evidence and making false/misleading statements to law enforcement officers, records show.

Stella is facing possible charges of second-degree rendering criminal assistance, making false/misleading statements to law enforcement officers and tampering with physical evidence, records show.

The arrests and charges follow a weapons complaint in which the victim told law enforcement a man had pointed a gun at him and then fled, possibly to Spokane, records show. He provided deputies law enforcement with a description of the alleged assailant’s vehicle.

Adams County deputies observed and stopped the suspect vehicle on U.S. Highway 395, records show. Reed was arrested.

Subsequent investigation determined Reed had legally changed his name to Fernando A Velasco.

The next day, April 26, Adams County deputies stopped a vehicle at 10:30 a.m. near the intersection of Division Street and First Avenue in Ritzville.

Stella was driving, records show.

Stella was known to associate with Velasco, and after subsequent investigation, she was arrested and booked into the Adams County jail in connection with the Washtucna incident.
