Broncos Softball sweeps River View

Harlee Hennings winds into a pitch against River View.

RITZVILLE – The Lind-Ritzville/Sprague/Washtucna girls fastpitch softball team swept a doubleheader March 22 against River View (Finley), but lost two to Northwest Christiain (Colbert) on March 26.

"We are a very inexperienced and it shows at times," Broncos Coach Todd O'Brien said. "I look forward to seeing the growth out of the younger girls and building on that as we move through the year."

In the first game against River View, the Broncos scored 16 runs on 6 hits, beating River View by a score of 16-8.

Taleaha Quesada had 2 hits in the game. Harlee Hennings struck out 6 Panthers in the win.

In the late game, the Broncos had 3 hits and outscored the Panthers 17-10.

Grace Fedie, Megan Melcher and Collette Nichols had hits for the Broncos. Harlee Hennings struck out 3 Panther batters in the win.

Against the Crusaders on Saturday, the local girls lost the first game, 23-2, after the Crusaders jumped out to an 11-0 lead in the top of the first inning.

The late game was close early, and the Broncos took a lead into the top of the 6th inning.

But the Crusaders would score 8 runs in the top of the 6th and another 8 runs in the top of the 7th to put the game away, 25-12.
