Basketball season ends for Broncos

SPOKANE VALLEY – The Lind-Ritzville/Sprague boys and girls basketball teams’ seasons came to an end last weekend at the District 7 tournament

The boys were eliminated by Northwest Christian (Colbert) on Saturday, Feb. 19, and the girls by Reardan on Feb. 17.

The Lind-Ritzville/Sprague boys basketball team advanced in the District 7 2B tournament Tuesday, Feb. 15 beating Upper Columbia Academy (Spangle), 67-37.

Jayce Kelly had 24 points in the win, while Chase Galbreath had 17 and Hunter Dinkins added 11. Upper Columbia exited the tournament with an overall record of 2 wins and 10 losses.

On Thursday, Feb. 17, the boys advanced again, beating Davenport (17-6) by a score of 65-58. Galbreath and Dinkins each had 16 points and Kelly added 15.

The win set up a final District 7 tournament game with Northweest Christian (Colbert) on Saturday, Feb. 19, for third place and a berth in regional round of the post-season.

That game would not go so well for the Broncos, losing by a score of 60-54, ending the season. Individual scoring statistics were not reported for the game.

The Bronco boys team finished the season with a record of 14 wins and 11 losses overall.

Girls basketball

The local girls were eliminated, 48-46, by Reardan on Feb. 17.

Reardan’s Ayden Krupke made two, 3-point shots in the final two minutes of the contest to lift Reardan to victory.

The No. 6-seeded Broncos (11-13) reached the game after a Feb. 15 win over Northwes Christian (Colbert) .

In that District 7 game, the Broncos outscored the Crusaders, 29-24, in a loser-out contest.

Harlee Hennings led all scorers with 11 points in that game.

Northwest Christian exited the tournament with an overall record of 7 wins and 13 losses.
