Othello council approves $19.5 million budget

OTHELLO — The City Council approved a $19.5 million budget for 2022 during its last meeting, Dec. 13.

The fiscal 2022 budget includes $7.4 million for general fund operations, $4.1 million for water services and $2.9 million for wastewater treatment, among other expenses.

The city will contract with Adams County Pet Rescue for animal control at a cost of about $51,000, and with Adams County Fire District No. 5 for fire services at an estimated $426,000.

The city has received $500,000 in grant funds from the state Wildlife and Recreation Program and Land and Water Conservation Fund, and $350,000 from the Youth Activities Facilities fund to improve Lions Park.
