More snow may be in forecast

RITZVILLE – The National Weather Service on Monday issued a hazardous weather outlook for the Columbia Basin, including Adams County.

Light snow was expected to fall across the county throughout the week, meteorologists said, noting roads may be slick.

“Another round of snow is expected this weekend and possibly bringing widespread snow impacts to the Inland Northwest,” meteorologists said.

Othello lawyer heads to Wahkiakum

OTHELLO – A former local lawyer has been selected as the new deputy prosecuting attorney for Wahkiakum County.

Shannon Eddy will be heading up criminal cases for the Western Washington County after working as a lawyer a few years here.

Eddy has a communications degree from Western Washington University and a law degree from University of Oregon.

Her career started in Alaska, where she worked as superior court clerk judge, before being recruited by the Anchorage District Attorney's Office, where she handled misdemeanors and juvenile cases.

From there, she took a job in Deschutes County, Ore., before moving to Othello.

Health group awarded $5M

OTHELLO – A local health care group has received a $5 million federal grant.

Columbia Basin Health Association was notified of the award more than a week ago by Rep. Dan Newhouse, R-Sunnyside.

“Organizations like the Columbia Basin Health Association are critical to ensuring our rural communities receive the same standard of health care as our urban counterparts,” Newhouse said. “I am pleased HHS has awarded this much-needed funding to the CBHA.”

The organization has clinics in Othello, Connell and Matawa.
