Juanita “Nita” L. Polda passed away peacefully in her home in Lamont, Wash. on Nov. 6, 2021. She was born in Sprague, Wash. on March 23, 1929 to Louise and Kon Lamparter. She was the oldest of four children.

After graduating from Sprague High School, she married Gilbert “Gib” Polda. They settled in Lamont, Wash. where they raised their four children: Kris Ann, David, Matt and Tim. Nita worked for many years at the Lamont Grain Growers as a bookkeeper and receptionist. She was an active member of the Lamont community, including serving as the town mayor for several years.
