Runners compete in Lewiston, Cheney

LEWISTON, Idaho – The Lind-Ritzville –Sprague Cross Country team competed in Lewiston, Idaho, on Sept. 28, and Cheney on Oct. 2.

In Lewiston, sophomore Caleb Heater came in 23rd of 35 with a time of 21:49, Coach Christina Heater reported. Freshmen, Brix Curtis finished 29th of 35 with a time of 23:35.

Competing in the girls race, Mauve Korthuis, an eighth-grader, came in 12th of 15 with a time of 28:12, the coach reported.

In Cheney, the team competed at the Battle of the 509 Invitational, hosted by Cheney High School.

Running in boys junior varsity, senior Elijah Michels came in 79th of 300 with a time of 19:43.8, the coach reported. Caleb Heater came in 194th of 300 with a 21:54.73.

Racing in the Freshman Combine, Brix Curtis came in 50th of 100 with a time of 21:39.81. Mauve Korthuis came in 35thof 46 with a 28:21.9, the coach reported

This week, the local runners were scheduled to be in a league meet at Colfax on Tuesday, Oct. 5, and at the Max Jensen Invite in Richland on Saturday, Oct. 9.

LRS Volleyball team wins

In other Lind-Ritzville sports, the girls volleyball team beat the Asotin Panthers, 3-1, in Asotin on Saturday, Oct. 2.

The local girls have an overall record of 3-3 and are in fifth-place in league standings.

The girls were scheduled to play at Northwest Christian (Colbert) on Oct. 5 and then host Odessa at Gilson Gym on Oct. 7.

Junior varsity games start at 5 p.m. and varsity plays at 6:30 p.m.
