Benge in need of new fire hall

The current Benge Fire Hall was built in 1950 and is not tall enough to house modern fire trucks.

BENGE – The Volunteer Fire Association is doing a fundraiser on behalf of Adams County Fire District #6 to go towards the purchase and construction of a new Fire Hall in Benge.

The current building was built in 1950 with an addition built later.

Thomas Pulliam, Secretary for the fire district, said the current fire hall can hold four vehicles in a ready-to-go position.

"It was built in an era when fire trucks were the size of a regular pick up truck," Pulliam said. "In the last few years, we were able to pick up trucks from state and federal surplus and convert them into fire trucks....
