"Experiencing God"

Have you experienced God? Have you ever had Him speak to you in a real and powerful way? God spoke to Mary through an angel. He spoke to Joseph in a dream. With the shepherds, He used a multitude of heavenly hosts; and with the wisemen, it was a bright and shining star. You see, God is not limited in the ways that He speaks to us. Instead, He uses all sorts of creative means to get our attention. He might reveal Himself though the Bible, prayer, your circumstances, or a person. The fact is, He can use any number of ways to speak. Our job is to listen.

Once we hear God’s voice or sense His moving around us, we must respond. Whether He is asking us to help a complete stranger, do something that is hard, or turn our lives in a completely different direction, He has things that He wants to do in and through us. He initiates the conversation and then we decide to obey or go our own way. The choice is ours.

In Jeremiah 29:13, the Bible says, “You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart.”

As the cell phones ring, the texts bing, and the world does all that it can to distract you from the most important relationship that you will ever have, be still and listen. Do what you can to lessen the noise and quiet your heart. God wants you to experience Him—His grace. His peace. His mercy. His goodness. His never-ending love. May the joy of the season be yours. Merry Christmas!
