Development Council delivers second round of grants

OTHELLO – The Adams County Development Council, under contract with the Washington State Department of Commerce, processed small business applications under the Working Washington Small Business Emergency grant program. November marked the second round of grants provided by the state, and 12 first-time applicants were awarded grants.

Similar to the first round of grants back in April, the Adams County Developement Council developed an online application to receive applicant information. From there, business license information was verified and the eligible applications went to a five-person review committee to be scored.

“For this second round, top scores and first-time applicants were given priority funding,” Adams County Development Council Manager Janis Rountree said Dec. 2.

Of the first-time applicants, Grill Skills Catering Company in Lind, and King Mercantile Company in Ritzville each received a $5,000 small business grant. Remaining grants in the amount of $10,000 each went to Angle Iron Ranch and Iron Legacy Ranch, both of Ritzville. In Othello, recipients included B’s Rubs LLC, Conversatio Coffee Roasters, GDJ Castro Trucking, Ironworks Café & Market, Jewel Logistics, K&T Nails, RJ Trucking and Sanchez Transport.

At the end of November, the governor announced there would be a third round of small business grants available and the application portal would be active the first week of December. Any business interested in applying for Round 3: Working Washington Small Business Grants should visit the Washington State Department of Commerce’s StartUp Washington website at http://startup.choosewashingtonstate.com/working-washington-round-3/.
