Parks & Recs Pool Levy

Last updated 10/9/2020 at 1:54pm

On November 3, 2020, Adams County residents will be given another opportunity to vote for the Ritzville Water Park pool levy, running a second maintenance and operation levy that did not pass in August.

It is important for us to note that these measures do require an investment from residents, many of whom that do not utilize the pool. However, with respect to that situation, the benefits of passing the levy are wide-ranging. In short-term, local jobs will be created for our youth, who will gain from work experience that may contribute to the direction they chose for their future, however they want to use it. We also see long-term benefits, as an investment for our children, a safe space during the summer while school is out; even our older adults utilize the pool for less constrictive exercise . For a park district, the primary source of funding is a levy - a real estate tax levy that is voted on by the residents of the district. The funds we get from our voter approved levies are paid out in two payments, one at the beginning of the year in April then again in November. We typically have carry over from year to year that helps fund the next season and so forth. The levy we are presenting to the tax payers will help ensure that we have enough funds to allow for safe, clean and fun pool for our community in the seasons to come.
