Virginia May (Brown) Olson

Virginia May (Brown) Olson was born on Sept. 6, 1926, in Spokane to Margaret (Beard) and Clarence D. Brown. She died in Spokane on March 30 at the age of 90.

Virginia’s father worked for the railroad so the family lived in many places in the Pacific Northwest. Her mother died when she was only six years old.

She loved spending summers in New York with her Grandmother Keene.

The family moved to railroad housing in Marengo around 1935. Virginia graduated from Ritzville High School a year early in 1943 and married Dick Brown in 1944.

She later returned to Ritzville and married Roger Olson on Jan. 23, 1954. They lived on the family farm until Roger’s retirement in 1980 when they moved to Spokane.

Virginia enjoyed reading but most of all loved watching sports on television.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother and sister, her husband Roger, her son Richard “Dick” W. Brown and granddaughter Wendy.

She is survived by son Terry L. Olson (Ann) of Ritzville; daughters Janice Kunz, Rebecca Joyce and Nancy Schuler all of Spokane; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She will lie in rest at the Pines Mausoleum in Spokane with her husband Roger.
