Supporting the John Wayne Trail

My husband and I live in Wenatchee and have sped by Ritzville for years on I-90, but it was on several trips to explore the John Wayne Pioneer Trail south of Ritzville that we came to stop and appreciate your town.

On our last visit this spring, we were part of a group of 4 bicyclists riding the trail. We picked up a local paper at that time and read the article from May 19, “Residents Weigh in on the Future of the John Wayne Pioneer Trail”.

We know that legislators representing the 9th District have opposed the trail, and read that local landowner Brandon Spencer favored permits to help adjacent landowners know who is on the trail and reduce problems.

We had our permits, but rode past his place apparently unnoticed. We did not trespass, vandalize, nor litter, and in fact, carried out what litter we could when we found it.

The only thing to mark that we had passed through was the money we left behind in Ritzville at these businesses: Cow Creek Mercantile, Ritzville Pastime Bar and Grill, Best Western, Top Hat Motel, and the Ritz Roadhouse.

Thank you Ritzville, for supporting the John Wayne Pioneer Trail, as we trail users help support your businesses.
