LRS girls take first at Connell, third at Lakeside

The May 2 track meet in Connell proved successful for the LRS girls’ track and field team, who earned a top finish at the meet. The girls took first place with a total of 83 points.

The LRS Bronco track and field team traveled to Lakeside High School to compete in the NE 1B/2B League Meet on April 29. The LRS girls continued their success by earning 89 points and securing third place at the meet. The boys finished seventh with 53 points.

The girl’s distance runners had a successful day as Felicia Ziemer finished first in the 800-meter, and Heidi Hennings finished first in the 3200-meter race and second in the 1600-meter.

Sydney Nelson also put up a top placing throw at the event with a mark of 97-02 in the discus, putting her in first place in the event.

In Connell last Friday, the LRS boys finished in 13th with 22 points. The girls earned their meet win with sweeping first place in the distance races and placing in the top three in all of the relays.
