City of Ritzville needs to disclose long-term water plan

Thank you Mr. Editor and Publisher for the brief report on the city’s effort to improve the supply of potable water.

We now know city managers expect the new well to produce some 2,000 gallons per minute (GPM).

At city council meetings of late, the mayor has been asked about this matter but has been unwilling to provide answers.

In the absence of a willingness to be forthcoming, can citizens rest easy that a well delivering some 2,000 GPM will be sufficient to meet the demands of local residents as well as the future demands of those across the freeway in new Ritzville? What is the city water distribution plan?

What is the mayor’s plan should the new well not provide potable water or produce less potable water than the expected 2,000 GPM?

She does have a plan, does she not?

Perhaps the mayor could be enticed to write a letter to the citizenry explaining the city of Ritzville water allocation plan and also explain what she plans to do should the new well fail to meet expectations.

What is being done to make certain the children will not only have water but safe clean water?

Please ask the mayor, “What is the plan to make certain the businesses and families of old Ritzville will have sufficient supply of safe drinking water?” Details please!

Barry Boyer, Ritzville
