Stop criticizing, be proactive

I’m tired of seeing letters in this paper criticizing the hospital district board members and their actions.

Where were the letter writers when the board was holding its latest open meeting?

I was there, and I sure didn’t see you.

At the meeting on March 28th, there were exactly five of us in the audience – a guest, a district employee, and three members of the public.

The really irritating thing though, is that the letters contain misinformation, misunderstandings, and absolutely nothing constructive. If you don’t have anything to contribute, then please just stand aside.

Sue Gardner had an excellent letter published in the March 28 edition of The Ritzville Journal, which said, in part, “I always believed that if you grumbled about something it was your duty to try and make things better ... ”

I would like to add to that, “If you won’t take the time to help, then don’t crab at the people who do.”

It’s easy to sit down and dash off letters to the paper, especially if you don’t care if the content is accurate. It’s a whole lot harder to actually try to get things done.

Lynn Walker, Ritzville
