Ritzville Police Report

Jan. 23, 12:09 p.m. –

Chief Dave McCormick responded to a vehicle prowl call in the 300 block of East Seventh Avenue. Complainant advised while in their house they observed a young male subject enter the complainant’s vehicle and leave toward the school. The complainant further advised they only thing taken was a pack of cigarettes, valued at $7. While investigating a separate call Sgt. Mark Cameron located the juvenile suspect who confessed to the crime. The unidentified juvenile was arrested for vehicle prowl in the second degree and theft in the third degree.

Jan. 23, 10:09 a.m. – Chief McCormick responded to a possible theft in the 100 block of East Main Avenue at the Flipside Thrift Store. The complainant advised of money being taken from the cash register, and pry marks on the register. Complainant advised there was $42 taken.

Jan. 22, 5:24 p.m. –

Dispatch advised of complainant requesting contact regarding a citizen dispute. Chief McCormick contacted the complainant by telephone. The complainant advised they got into a verbal argument with their son’s girlfriend and kicked the subject out of the house. The complainant further advised they just wanted the situation documented.

Jan. 22, 7:49 a.m. – Chief McCormick responded to a possible hazardous condition at South Fairway Avenue and Weber Avenue. Dispatch advised of a line down in the area. Chief McCormick responded and contacted CenturyLink, who sent up a field repairperson who determined the down cable belonged to the cable TV company. The city crew responded with barricades until the necessary repairs were completed. The cable went down due to heavy frost.

Jan. 21, 7:26 p.m. – Sergeant Cameron responded to a possible trespassing call in the 100 block of East Third Avenue. Sgt. Cameron contacted the complainant who advised they had picked up a male subject two weeks ago for a scheduled child visitation with the complainant’s roommate. Since then the subject has refused to leave. During the conversation the roommate entered and advised a friend was coming for the male subject and his things. The roommate advised the situation would be handled civilly.

Jan. 21, 4:44 p.m. –

Sergeant Cameron and Officer Tom Gracie responded to a possible malicious mischief call in the 300 block of West Third Avenue. Upon arrival the officers contacted the complainant who advised three juveniles had picked up their garbage can and threw it across the driveway. The complainant further advised nothing was damaged in the incident. The three juveniles were contacted in the 300 block of South Columbia Street. They were warned not to tamper with people’s property.

Jan. 21, 11:42 a.m. – Officer Gracie responded to a possible threat in the 500 block of East First Avenue. Dispatch advised a male subject made threats to a former landlord. Officer Gracie contacted the complainant who stated they received information that a male subject made a threat to blow up the landlord’s residence. Investigation ongoing.

Jan. 20, 3:48 p.m. – Officer Gracie responded to an animal problem in the 300 block of East Alder Avenue. Dispatch advised of a dog running at large in the area. Officer Gracie conducted a sweep of the area and was unable to locate the animal.

Jan. 19, 12:55 p.m. – Officer Gracie responded to a citizen dispute in the 100 block of East Galbreath Way at the Best Western. Officer Gracie contacted a member of the staff who advised a female subject was refusing to leave the hotel because of the fog. The complainant further advised the subject will not pay for an additional day and wants the hotel to cover the cost. Officer Gracie contacted the subject in the hotel room, she became agitated and insisted there was a disaster relief fund to cover the cost of her hotel stay. Officer Gracie advised the subject to vacate the premises or be arrested for trespassing. The subject gathered her belongings and left.

Jan. 17, 11:22 p.m. – Officer Gracie responded to an agency assist call in the 500 block of West Third Avenue. Officer Gracie arrived and assisted the ambulance crew as needed.

Jan. 17, 1:12 p.m. – Officer Gracie responded to a possible hazardous condition in the 600 block of West Main Avenue. Complainant advised of low hanging tree branches interfering with traffic. Officer Gracie contacted the homeowner where the tree is located and requested they trim the tree to avoid damage.

Jan. 16, 9:15 a.m. – Chief McCormick responded to a citizen assist in the 600 block of West First Avenue at the Harvest Foods. Chief McCormick contacted the complainant who advised a subject had rented a movie and it is 54 days late. Chief McCormick contacted the known subject who advised they just found the movie and will return it that day.

Jan. 15, 1:38 p.m. – Chief McCormick responded to an agency assist call in the 400 block of East Broadway Avenue at the Adam’s House Apartments. Complainant advised a subject was stuck in the elevator. Chief McCormick arrived and contacted the manager, who was the one stuck in the elevator. The manager advised they were fine and thanked Chief McCormick for the quick response.

Jan. 15, 1:35 p.m. – Chief McCormick responded to a possible domestic call in the 100 block of East Cherry Avenue. Upon arrival, Chief McCormick observed the house to be in order and no signs of a fight. The residents confirmed everything was okay and Chief McCormick cleared.

Jan. 15, 3:52 a.m. – While on patrol, Officer Hunter Klewin observed a female subject walking east on I-90 near milepost 227. Upon contact, Officer Klewin learned the subject had been driving with her husband when an argument ensued. The female subject further advised she stopped and exited the vehicle and the husband continued on to Spokane. Officer Klewin transported the subject to the Circle K to await a ride.
