Eastern Adams County's Only Independent Voice Since 1887

Disagrees with appointees

On April 26, I attended the Hospital Board of Commissioners meeting for East Adams Rural Hospital District. There were many topics discussed, but one topic deeply concerned and saddened me.

Chairperson, Stacey Plummer, announced the committee she had chosen to help pick the new CEO for East Adams Rural Hospital District (EARH) and its facilities. The committee consists of David Bake, CEO of Life Care Center, Dr. Marty Sackmann, Chris Schwisow, Commissioner Jerry Crossler and herself.

Bake, of Life Care and Dr. Sackmann, are competitors of EARH and clearly have conflicts of interest. Their first priority will be to seek a person which will perform in the best interest of their two health care practices. The practice of EARH and clinic will have a lower priority for these two providers.

Would the CEO of Burger King be asked to be on a committee to pick the CEO of McDonalds?

Plummer, by placing these two people on the CEO committee, has performed an unconscionable act, an irresponsible business decision and continues to drive the wedge even deeper between the people of EARH district.
