Help kids go to school with shoe drive

Every once in a while we come across something that moves us. And sometimes it is when we least expect it. I was given some information about a wine company in California (which normally I wouldn’t read but since my friends made it a point to include it with a gift, I did.).

I read the information provided to me and this Flip Flop Wines talked about a cause they work for. I was instantly moved after reading the information that was provided to me.

I instantly knew that I needed to help somehow even if it is on a small scale. The group is called Soles4Souls. Over 300 million children around the world are without shoes.

Soles4Souls has given away over 12 million pairs during its five-year history.

The statement that clinched it for me, “Shoes are very often considered a required part of the school uniform in developing countries and without shoes, many children are unable to attend school.”

So I am urging everyone to help those kids who need shoes. I’ve got both Washtucna School and Ritzville Grade School to be holders of the drop boxes (with the help of a friend who will be my Ritzville connection.”

Have your kids bring shoes in and let them know that they are helping to make it possible for other kids across the world to go to school.

If you have any questions, you can feel free to call me at 509-939-5161.

Melinda Owens, Washtucna
