    October is here and for the past 21 years the East Adams County Healthcare Foundation has held its yearly event to support the health of our community. With that said, please step forward and let us help support them for the 100 percent volunteer work they do for us. Some think that they are a group from the Hospital, that they are a political group, and some think that all their funds stay in one community, not so.     A Voter Information Forum for Adams County is being planned at which community members can learn of four matters of concern for voters in the general election.     The good news is we are developing new life-saving medications every day. The bad news is they are very expensive and paying for them could bankrupt our health care system.   • Away games prove tough for Lady Broncos

    The Lady Broncos hit the road this week facing Tri-Cities Prep and Northwest Christian in two away games on Saturday and Tuesday respectively. In their match against the Tri-Cities Prep Jaguars, the team lost in four sets after three very close games. The Jaguars would take the first set 25-12 against the Broncos. The second set the Lady Broncos managed to pull out a win 25-22. In the third set, the Jaguars repeated their first set defeating the Broncos 25 to 21 and then swept the fourth set 25-14.     Timothy James Birge died on August 25 in Spokane. Tim, the youngest of 4 children, was born to Cecil and Irene Birge on December 6, 1957 in Odessa. He was raised in Harrington, and graduated from Harrington High School in 1976. While attending high school, Tim participated in golf and basketball. Tim also played the drums in the high school band, following in the footsteps of his two older brothers.     The Lady Tigercats faced the Pomeroy in Kahlotus on Thursday, Sept. 25, and were handed a league loss from the Lady Pirates. The LWK team fell in three sets with scores of 15-25, 10-25 and 14-25. Head coach Sandy Martin said the Lady Tigercats had a solid night passing, but struggled with the serving percentage.     For three months Nicole Shaefer has been offering haircuts on Main Avenue, renting her space from Kim Yaeger, as a part of a long family tradition of hair styling. After graduating from Ritzville High School in 2008, Nicole began her schooling at Glen Dow Academy of Hair Design in Spokane. For six months she learned the practices of a hair stylist.
