Bronco girls run over River View

Hoops teams take a break until Jan. 7

RITZVILLE - The game was over before it started.

The Lind-Ritzville girls put 28 points on the board in the first quarter to immediately run away with a 62-35 win over the River View Panthers on Dec. 27.

The Broncos (5-3) starting lineup put 24 points on the board before the Panthers (2-6) could get a single bucket - and that came with only 1:50 left in t he first quarter.

Backup players started rotating into the game immediately in the second quarter, and the Broncos still expanded their lead.

At the half, the Broncos led 40-14.

After the break, River View kept the backups mostly off the board, outscoring the Broncos, 9-6, barely putting a dent in the deficit.

In the final stanza, the Broncos picked up momentum again, outscoring the Panthers 16-12 for a final 27-point margin of victory.

Bronco junior Zoe Galbreath led all scorers with 28 points.

Other local scorers included Madisyn Cameron, Addy Colbert and Saige Galbreath with 5 points each, Temple Gefre with 3 and Claire Wellsandt with 2.

The Bronco girls are off the court this week for a New Year's hiatus.

They return to action at 5:45 p.m. Jan. 7 in Medical Lake, and then host Liberty (Spangle) at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 10 in Gilson Gymnasium.

The girls will also travel to Colfax to take on the Bulldogs at 6 p.m. Jan. 11.
