Ralston Grange honors veterans

The Ralston Grange combined a potluck dinner with an informal tribute to veterans following the meal Tuesday, Nov. 19.

Grange President Jerry Snyder was master of ceremonies and told the gathering about his own father's experience receiving health care following World War II due to an ankle injury.

"Dad spent 16 months in the hospital and was one of the first 25 to receive penicillin," Snyder said. "I thought we'd have to cut his ankle off or his leg off below the knee," Snyder said. "That didn't happen and he got to keep it.
