Area students receive scholarships

Ritzville — Several students from schools around the are have received scholarships, including:

• Blake Earle of Ritzville, $2,000 Willard and Patricia Hennings Scholarship. He is attending Gonzaga University in Spokane.

• Julia Guske of LaCrosse High School, $1,000 David & Frances G. Ray Scholarship. Guske will be majoring in nursing at Lewis and Clark State College in Lewiston, Idaho. “I think I will enjoy helping people and learning about nursing. I love to travel and really enjoy learning about different cultures,” Guske said. “Nursing is always needed which means that I could travel wherever I want and see the world while working and doing something that I enjoy.”

• Brock Kinch of Washtucna, $2,000 Willard and Patricia Hennings Scholarship. He is attending Pacific Lutheran University.

• Olivia Kjack of St. John-Endicott High School, $1,250 Dr. Mark Paxton Dental Scholarship. She will be attending Eastern Washington University in Cheney to major in dental hygiene. “Kind dental hygienists always helped calm me down and made me feel better. This has made me want to help others the way my dental hygienists have helped me,” she said. “My goal is to help others to have good dental hygiene and to help people feel less scared of going to the dentist.”

• Eric Mooney of Harrington, $3,000 Mondovi Grange/Wilson Farm Scholarship. He is attending Walla Walla Community College.
