Potluck and party planned Dec. 4 in rural community

RALSTON – A dinner, entertainment and a visit from Santa Claus will usher in the Christmas season in this rural community

The Christmas Potluck and Party will take at 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, at Ralston Grange on State Highway 261.

The annual event is open to the public and has been a “way for families to kick-off the holiday season for over 90 years,” a press release on the event said.

Attendees are asked to bring a potluck dish or two to share; the grange will provide beverages, rolls and table service.

In addition to the potluck meal, the event features entertainment including a musical, dance and instrumental numbers; children’s recitations and other performances, officials said.

A visit from Santa is expected, too.

Parents bringing children are asked to out the jolly ole elf by providing one small, wrapped gift for each of their children for Santa to give them that evening.

All children will go home with a candy bag filled with special treats, as well.

Door prizes will be given out throughout the evening.

Anyone wanting to donate a door prize can bring it with them.
