Local girls spike Gorillas, Bulldogs

Broncos win 6 sets, but drop only 1 in week

RITZVILLE – The Broncos girls volleyball team topped Davenport and Kettle Falls last week, dropping only a single set.

On Wednesday, Oct. 18, the Lind-Ritzville/Sprague/Washtucna/Harrington girls knocked off Davenport, 3-1. Then on Oct. 22, the local girl spiked the Kettle Falls Bulldogs in a 3-0 sweep.

In the game against Davenport, 5-foot-10 senior Taylor Galbreath, an outside hitter, had 14 kills and 8 aces to lead her team to victory. Set scores were 25-19, 25-19, 23-25 and 25-12.

Zoe Galbreath, a 5-foot-7 freshman, added 18 assists and Saige Galnbreath, a 5-foot-9 freshman, had 2 blocks in the win.

The Bulldogs followed up that win by sweeping Kettle Falls on Saturday, Oct. 22.

Taylor Galbreath led the Broncos again, this time with 13 kills.

Zoe Galbreath added 12 assists, 5 aces and 1 block.

Addy Colbert, a 5-foot-6 sophomore, also had 1 block. Meanwhile, 5-5 junior Megan Melcher logged 5 digs.
