Ballots in mail this week

RITZVILLE – Voting in the Nov. 8 general election gets underway this week with ballots being mailed to registered voters.

In Adams County, 7,770 ballots were scheduled to go in the mail this week, Auditor Heidi Hunt said.

"Ballots will be mailed to voters this week," Hunt said.

Contested local races include Miguel A. "Mike" Garza and Terry Thompson squaring off for County Commission No. 3 seat and Dale J. Wagner of Othello and Matthew Carlson of Ritzville facing off for Adams County Sheriff.

"Many of you have been asking about the removal of the ballot drop boxes at the city of Ritzville and the town of Washtucna," Hunt said. "The Ritzville and Washtucna ballot received a much needed facelift, with a fresh paint job and new decals."

The deadline for placing ballots in the drop boxes is 8 p.m. election day, Nov. 8, Hunt said.

Drop boxes are located at:

Lind – Town Hall, 116 ½ W. Second St.

Othello – Adams County Public Services Building, 425 E. Main St.

Ritzville – City Hall, 216 E. Main Ave.

Washtucna – Town Hall, 165 S. Main St.

Ballots may also be returned via U.S. Postal Service or in person to the the Auditor's Office in the Adams County Courthouse, 210 W. Broadway Ave.

Mailed ballots must be postmarked on or before Nov. 8.

Hunt is reminding voters to call the Elections Office at 509-659-3249 if they do not receive a ballot or if they have questions.
