Teen girl shot to death

OTHELLO – One local girl was killed and another hospitalized after being shot Thursday night, Oct. 6.

The incident is believed to be gang-related.

According to a police report, officers were dispatched at about 11:30 p.m. to the intersection of Sylvan and Rose drives after receiving a report of gunfire.

Police arriving on scene found five people in a crashed SUV, records show. The driver and one passenger, both 16 year old girls, had been shot, records show.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, records show.The other victim was transported to a hospital for life-threatening injuries, police said.

Officers interviewing the remaining passengers learned they were following another vehicle when someone inside it started shooting at them, records show. One bullet hit the driver causing her to crash.
