Bear, cougar hunting discussed

OLYMPIA – The state Fish and Wildlife Commission revisited its discussion on ending the spring bear hunt and cougar hunting in the Blue Mountains during a meeting June 23-25.

The board previously decided to end the spring bear hunt, but plans to discuss it again July 15 following objections of hunters.

On cougar hunting, commissioners heard from staff and the public on the rule making process for cougar hunting season in the Blue Mountains.

They are expected to make a decision on cougar hunting July 15, as well.
