Semi overturns near Lind

LIND – A tractor-trailer overturned Friday, May 13, three miles south of the city, blocking U.S. Highway 395 for hours.

The crash occured near Milepost 79 just after midnight, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Department of Transportation workers set up a detour around the scene using state Highways 21 and 26, while crews worked to remove the overturned truck.

By 3 a.m., crews had one lane of the highway reopened and the scene was completely cleared aby 2 p.m. Friday afternoon.

No injuries were reported in the crash.

Sex offender leaves town

RITZVILLE – A Level III sex offender, reportedly seen near City Park, has relocated from Ritzville to Spokane, according to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.

Danielle ‘Daniel’ Hastings, 31, had been residing at Colewell Motor Inn, 501 W. First Ave., for an unknown period of time, records show.

Hastings was convicted of communicating with a minor for immoral purposes in 2014 and 2018, records show. His victims were females ages 10, 11, and 12.

Offenders are classified as level III offenders if his/her risk assessment and other factors indicate s/he is a high risk to sexually reoffend within the community at large.

Tokio exit to close temporarily

RITZVILLE – The offramps at the Tokio interchange of Interstate 90 will be closed in both directions on Monday, May 23.

The Tokio ramps are at Milepost 231, officials said, encouraging motorists planning to travel to that area to use alternate routes.

According to the state Department of Transportation, the closure will begin at 6 a.m. and last until about 4 p.m.
