Physician Assistant enjoys building relationships

RITZVILLE – Marnie Boyer (59) is a Physician Assistant Certified (PA-C), who has been at East Adams Rural Healthcare since 1997. She says “I love it here”. Being able to build relationships is one of the more satisfying parts of the job. She specializes in family medicine and has patients who she says “I have known since they were a pink stripe on a pregnancy test.”

Marnie got started in healthcare working as a nursing assistant at a long term care facility where her Grandmother was a patient. She says “I wanted to keep an eye on my Grandmother.” Boyer went to nursing school at Big Bend Community College in Moses Lake, and started working in Ritzville after graduation. Her career led her to enroll in Physician Assistant program at the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, graduating in 2001.

Having been with the hospital district for more than 20 years, Boyer has a lot of institutional history with her. She says “we have gone through a lot. I don’t like to dwell on some of it, because they weren’t the best times.” But she is quick to add “we are on a great trajectory right now. Staffing is stable, and we are moving in a positive direction.”

Boyer plans to stay at East Adams Rural Health Care until she retirees, which she estimates to be another 9 or 10 years. Marne resides in Moses Lake.
