Setting the record straight

I want to correct statements in the story you published in the Ritzville Adams County Journal on Oct. 6.

Point One – The duly-elected mayor of the town of Lind has the authority to execute actions pertaining to permits submitted by the residents.

Point Two – The statement of trespassing on property is also incorrect. Our contractor performed the work on the town of Lind's street right-of-way. There was no trespassing on the property.

Point Three – The estimate of cost for installation of the water and sewer lines was submitted to Cameron and Briana Osborne by letter.

Point Four – The cost estimate required a posting of legal tender before work could begin. The check was cashed after work was completed.

Point Five – Cameron and Briana (Osborne) were not “extorted,” your words. This was payment for services rendered.

In conclusion, your story is extremely biased to one point-of-view, and not very impartial reporting of your phone listening of a very important proceeding for the town of Lind's council meeting on Sept. 28.

If you should choose not to address this letter, I will be posting it on our Community Bulletin Board for the town of Lind to read.

James Dworshak
