Eastern Adams County's Only Independent Voice Since 1887
RITZVILLE — Voters across Adams County are supporting maintenance and operations levies for parks and recreation, and cemetery districts.
Proposition No. 1 of Ritzville Parks and Recreation District No. 4 rececived 398 approval votes in the initial primary election tally tonight, Aug. 3.
The measure has 69.7% approval, so far, with only 30.3% opposition (173 votes).
Not to be outdone, voters in Lind are giving a thumbs up to Proposition No. 1 of Parks and Recreation District No. 3 by an even larger percentage.
In Lind, 131 voters, 76.61%, approve of the levy, compared ton 40 voters, 23.39% opposed.
In Othello, 386 voters, or 54.37%, approved of Proposition No. 1 there. But 324 voters, or 45.63%, opposed the measure in the first day of counting.
Both Cemetery District Nos. 1 and 3 also have measures passing.
Cemetery District No. 1 has 75.36% (52 votes) approving, and 24.6% (17 votes) rejecting.
Cemetery District No. 3 has 70.52% (122 votes) approving, and 29.48% (51 votes) rejecting.
At the end of the initial count, voter turnout in Adams County was only 20.27%.
So far, 1,531 ballots have been counted; the county has 7,552 registered voters.
