TOUCHET — A local farmer was uninjured when a car struck his combine along U.S. Highway 12.

Darren Z. Goble, 55, was westbound in his 2011 Case Combine 8120 harvester about three miles east of the city when eastbound driver Mycheal R. Summers, 31, of Walla Walla, lost control of his vehicle about 6:27 a.m. Sunday, July 18, the Washington State Patrol reported.

Summers crossed the centerline and crashed into the combine, the patrol reported, noting either alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.

Summers was transported to a Walla Walla area hospital, the patrol reported. Charges are pending.

Goble, who was wearing a seatbelt, was able to drive his harvester from the scene, the patrol reported. Summers’ 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue was towed.

The crash remains under investigation.
