Burlington Northern soon will nail a "closed" sign in the door of its depot here, unless the Washington Utilities and Transportation commission denies the proposal. J.D. Urquhart, president of Union Elevator and Warehouse Co., here told the Chamber of Commerce Monday the decision had gone through to the last step but the utilities commission approval when he discovered it was being considered. Urquhart said the grain shipments originating at Lind exceed those of any station between Spokane and Tacoma-Seattle on the Burlington-Northern. "It's a sad day when they walk in and tell you they're going to pull down the depot," said Urquhart to a luncheon meeting.
