Broncos compete in Davenport, Colfax

DAVENPORT - Eight teams converged on Davenport for a track and field event, with Lind-Ritzville-Sprague-Washtucna taking fifth place for the girls' team and seventh place for the boys' team.

Davenport took first place for both boys' and girls' teams. The boys scored 176 and the girls scored 126.5.

Chewelah took second place for both boys and girls.

Individual finishers in the top ten for the Broncos boys are as follows.

Sophomore Hayden Melcher took third in 100 Meters at 11.10. St. George's senior Kyley Doughty took first at 10.85. Freshman Brock Kinch tied for seventh place at 11.93 with Chewelah sophomore Parker Anderson.

In the 200 Meters, freshman Shawn Steinberger came in fourth at 25.29. Doughty again came in first, at 23.02. Kinch came in sixth at 25.40, and freshman Blake Earle came in ninth at 27.32.

sophomore Brandon Davis took eighth place in the 800 Meters at 2:35.79. In first was senior Easton Pomrankey of Kettle Falls at 2:08.19.

Davis also placed eighth in the 3200 meters, which Chewelah junior Zeke Crockett won at 10:47.71.

A 4x100 Relay team of Douglas Morris, Steinberger, Kinch and Melcher took third place at 47.87. Coming in first was the Colfax team at 47.44.

In Pole Vault, Steinberger placed fifth with a jump of 6' even. Davenport's Brayden Duff, a senior, took first at 9' even.

Melcher placed fifth in Long Jump at 17' even. Davenport junior Jake Coffman took first at 20-08.50. Coming in ninth place was Kinch at 16-07.00.

For the girls, junior Sydney Kinch took third in the 100 Meters with a time of 12.93. St. George's junior Fair Niven won at 12.02.

In the 100m Hurdles, senior Kylee Longie took seventh place at 19.64. Davenport senior Darby Soliday took first at 15.21.

In Shot Put, senior Brynne Nelson came in fourth at 29-02.00, followed by sophomore Myra Miller at 29-00.50. Longie came in 10th at 24-03.50. First place was taken by Davenport senior Ellie Telford at 31-07.50.

Miller took first in Discus, at 97-02, far ahead of Davenport sophomore Lena Waters in second place at 85-11.

In Javelin, junior Alan Billingmeier placed fourth at 75-07. The event was won by freshman Jensyn Jacobsen of Davenport at 92-07.

Senior Janaye Wilkie won High Jump at 5' even. Colfax freshman Hailey Demier came in second at 4-10.00.

Kinch took first place in Pole Vault at 9-06.00.

Wilkie took first in Long Jump at 16-04.00, followed by Kinch at 15-10.00 in second place.

Earlier in the week, the team traveled to Colfax to compete against the Bulldogs along with Asotin and Northwest Christian (Colbert) Tuesday, April 27.

The Broncos took five first-place finishes.

For the girls, Miller took first in Discus with a throw of 115.04. Asotin's Haylee Appleford, also a sophomore, came in second at 99-03.

Kinch took first in Pole Vault (9-00.00) and Long Jump (15-11.00).

Wilkie came in second in Long Jump, at 15-07.00. Junior Kaylee Monroe took 10th at 12-01.00.

Kinch took second in the 100 Meters at 13.36. Asotin senior Sydnee Balzer won the event at 13.35.

Miller took second in Shot Put at 30-06.00. Coming in third was Nelson at 29-01.50. Billingmeier came in seventh at 21-10.00, followed by Longie in eighth place at 21-08.00. The event was won by Appleford at 36-02.00.

In Javelin, Billingmeier took third at 73-06, and junior Kylee Monroe came in seventh at 50-04. Appleford won the event at 82-10.

In High Jump, Wilkie took third at 4-06.00. Colfax freshman Hailey Demier took first at 5' even.

The girls team came in third place with 77 points. Asotin won with 169.5. Colfax placed second with 152.5 points and Northwest Christian came in fourth at 68.

For the boys' team, Melcher took first in both the 100 Meters and the 200 Meters; and Steinberger took first in Pole Vault at 6-06.00.

Melcher's time in the 100 Meters was 11.71; followed by freshman Asher West in second at 12.06. Kinch came in fifth at 12.49, and Steinbeger took eighth place at 13.01.

In the 200 Meters, Melcher's time was 23.96. West came in second again, at 24.04. Kinch took fourth at 25.61, followed by Steinberger in fifth at 26.17.

Junior Bronc Hustsell took third in the 800 Meters, at 2:52.43. Northwest Christian sophomore Ben Graham took first at 2:13.81.

Junior Eli Michaels took third in 1600 Meters at 5:33.29, and freshman Caleb Heater came in sixth at 6:15.51. Graham won at 2:13.81.

Senior Sam Michaels took second in the 3200 Meters at 12:53.42, followed by Davis at 13:22.27. The event was won by Colfax senior Josh Huber at 11:44.89.

In Shot Put, senior Josh Crouse took sixth place at 28-11.00. Jacob Brown, a senior at Colfax, won at 39-09.50.

Crouse took seventh in Discus, at 82-10. Brown won at 121-08.

In Long Jump, Melcher tied for fourth place at 17-04.00 with Colfax junior Trenton Ensley. Kinch came in sixth at 17-00.00. The event was won by Asotin junior Carson Benner at 19-02.00.

The boys' team placed third with 92.5 points. Colfax took first with 188, followed by Asotin with 118. Northwest Christian came in fourth with 85.5.

The Broncos are scheduled to travel to a Division Championship in Colfax Friday, May 7.
