City warns about low water pressure

Ritzville – Residents on city water can expect low pressure this week, as the water standpipe is being inspected and the tank has to be drained, City Clerk-Treasurer Julie Flyckt announced Monday.

"This will cause low water pressure from today until the standpipe is refilled," Flyckt said. "We are expecting to have the standpipe inspection complete by this Friday (April 16).

Flyckt said the low pressure will be similar to what residents experienced last March, when the standpipe was offline for the tank to be cleaned.

"We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause during this time," Flyckt said.

Adams County deputy assists in pursuit

WARDEN – A local man was booked into the Franklin County Jail after leading Pasco and Connell police on a high-speed pursuit Saturday night.

Sergio Diaz, 37, was booked into the jail early Sunday morning on possible charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, attempt to elude police and driving with a suspended or revoked license.

As of press time, he was being held without bail.

His arrest came after police tried to stop Diaz's vehicle in Pasco at roughly 10 p.m. Saturday night, the Adams County Sheriff's Office reported.

Pasco police and Connell police began pursuing his vehicle as it headed north at speed of more than 100 mph. The chase moved into Adams County as more deputies joined to help.

"K-9 Garrett and his (Adams County deputy) handler were called out to assist with the pursuit," stated the Adams County Sheriff's Office.

Warden police set up spike strips ahead of the pursuit and were able to disable the fleeing vehicle.

Nearly an hour after it started, law enforcement arrested Diaz.
