Four local students compete for DYW scholarship

RITZVILLE – Four young women will be competing in this year's Distinguished Young Women scholarship pageant.

Dakota Killian, daughter of Lisa Annette and Gordon Lee Killian hopes to attend Brigham Young University and become a journalist or author. She enjoys sports as well as competing in FBLA events, writing short stories, playing games with her family, traveling, reading, and dancing. Her talent for the pageant will be playing the piano.

Annika Lynn Holland, daughter of Robert Holland, hopes to attend Washington State University and become a doctor. She enjoys participating in FFA Floriculture and FFA Farm Business Management and the ASB, as well as baking, cooking, arranging flowers for weddings and hanging out with friends. Her talent for the pageant will be playing the violin.

Sydney Isabelle Kinch, daughter of Daniel Joseph and Natalie Kaye Kinch, hopes to attend the University of Washington and become a dermatologist or registered dietician. She enjoys sports, as well as participating in FBLA, the ASB, National Honor Society, and Mixed Attitudes Dance Academy. Her talent for the pageant will be performing a lyrical ballet.

Amelia Court, daughter of Shannon and Bryce Court, hopes to attend Purdue and become a pilot. She enjoys sports as well as participating in Youth Group, the Church Worship Team, Knowledge Bowl, National Honor Society, the ASB, and working as a summer camp councilor. Her talent for the pageant will be an original poetry recitation.
